Cherry Blossom Impressionism
In spring, the rows and rows of of cherry trees at the University of Washington in Seattle create a sort of cathedral of cherry blossoms. I'm fascinated with the challenge of trying to capture the light that filters through the blossoms.
In this painting, I've borrowed some ideas from the impressionists, using small daubs of paint to create the sense of light.
This painting is part of my 2019 series of watercolors of the University of Washington cherry trees.
